Two more weeks left….

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 8, 2012 by vivinyl

The last go round for R3 Stage 1 will wrap up Tuesday 27 March with an intimate presentation that evening of all the developmental work the studio has made since it began in February 2011.

It has been a busy week as the second issue of AMA-Zine is hot off the press and the distribution has started in the area. If anyone wants a copy for their collection, drop by the studio or contact the R3 Project.

Time is running out and there still is plenty to do and things to learn ….

Check out AMA-Zine Issue 2

Excitingly the second issue of our local zine, AMA-Zine has come together and will be available to collect this week. The second issue is landscape format and shows off an amazing range of collage and digital print by the R3 Studio.

It has been a mad dash to wrap up all the developmental work we have made in workshops because we are having a special screening in Wonthaggi on Tuesday 27 March 7pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and see all the work we have made come together for one night.

We are still running workshops from now until 28 March. Same times and Same Place. 80 Graham Street Wonthaggi. Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5pm.

Are You Free?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 7, 2012 by vivinyl

On Tuesday night we presented a new version of the Are You Free? video at the R3 Studio night projection space at 80 Graham Street Wonthaggi.

Are You Free? is a video work in progress, weaving the diverse and individual responses to the title question as a method to communicate an ideal that affects us all.

Let your voice become part of the discussion!

R3 invites everyone to add their response to Are You Free?  by either sending a text message to 0487 33 55 86 or post a comment on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/r3project  or at the end of this blog post.

Once we have collected enough responses, the final video work will be presented in an outdoor projection installation in mid-March. Stay tuned and start thinking…are YOU free?

Today was a good day

Today was a good day except the computers didn’t work… the computers didn’t work… the computers didn’t work… the computers didn’t work…which made it really hard for me to work. We called our IT expert and waited for a response. When he got back to us he did his best to trouble shoot over the phone, but nothing worked. Meanwhile, not missing a beat, we moved on to cutting and pasting – creating new collages for the next issue of AMA-ZINE. Production is in full swing, with lots of artwork to finish, as we only have a couple of months left till the end of the project, so we have scheduled every minute we have left. So much to do… We also came up with an idea for this weeks slide. Go to 80 Graham Street to check it out tonight or any night till next Tuesday. That’s about it for right now.

I love Aqua!!!!!!

Spend Less Give More

At our last R3 studio for 2011, we wanted to make a holiday slide to reflect what we thought were the important aspects of the silly season.

As we trawled cyberspace researching the origins of Christmas, we uncovered some wild tales and truths that broke down the construction of our modern understanding of what Christmas is.

The slide we developed in that workshop was a simple but important message to share: don’t get caught up in the $$$,  sometimes just the people you care about are all the presents you need.

What does Christmas mean to you?

R3 is taking a summer break and will return in 2012.

We wish a safe and happy holidays to all!

Easy freedom and the open road…

EASY FREEDOM WORKSHOP
This week at R3 we looked at the opening sequence of a classic indie film revolving around motorcycles and the open road. Easy Rider is a challenging and iconic movie that explores concepts of freedom and its pursuit in 1960’s America. In this week’s workshop we referenced still images from the film and made overhead projection slides using Photoshop and cardboard stencils.

R3 HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
We have two more weeks left before the Christmas holidays begin (we will return in early January) and we want to extend the invitation to more young people aged 15-25 who may be interested in our kind of art making. The dates are as follows:
Tuesday 6 & Wednesday 7 December 1-5pm
Tuesday 13 & Wednesday 14 December 1-5pm
To register your interest, contact Michael on 0487 33 55 86 or email r3@visionaryimages.org.

A big thank you to GIPPSLAND BUS SERVICES who have kindly supported the R3 project by assisting one R3 participant’s travels from Leongatha to the workshops!

The world is not a free place, nor are you!

Wherever you go, whatever you do there is always going to be someone telling you that you can’t do something.

If the world was a free place and people had a choices, without living in fear of how they are going to be judged, then I’m sure we would live in peace, without gangs, riots, murders etc..

The world will never be a happy place, so dreamers keep on dreaming

This week we are talking about whether we do actually feel free. This new slide will be launched tonight in Graham St Wonthaggi and will be up for the rest of the week. Let us know your thoughts…

Hello fellow people!

Hello fellow people, we have officially completed the first issue of the zine and it’s pretty groovy! We handed out copies to some of the local businesses and hopefully the public will check it out and maybe give us some feedback. Handing the zine out and giving an explanation of it was exhilarating, people are genuinely interested and willing to help out. We’re currently creating version 2 of the Zine and I’m pumped, working with some great people and we have the creative juices flowing, really puts a smile on my dial. Can’t wait for next week! Love Molly.
